Welcome
The Canterbury Software Cluster (Canterbury Software Inc.) is a non-profit organisation aimed at helping the Canterbury software sector succeed at home and worldwide.
This cluster of small-to-medium Canterbury and other South Island companies works to facilitate strong foundations for commercial success in world-class software products and services, and establish national and international business relationships.
We have monthly catch-up drinks and nibbles at Club XO where industry experts come along and share their knowledge of particular topics. These events provide excellent networking opportunities. Sessions are held on the first Tuesday of every month - cost is $10 at the door, or join up as a member and enjoy the benefits. Click the Join Now button to register, or email us and we will do the rest.

Geeks - Software
developers beware, test or risk being sued!
Peter Brown is
the founder of Nightside Test Design - a Fast 50 testing
company offering NZ exporters and manufacturers professional test services that
cover the full product development lifecycle. Services include software testing,
production testing, embedded development, industrial control, measurement and
data logging.
Software testing
has become a discipline on its own, independent of developers. Its aim is to
find and fix bugs created by programmers, requirements and changes in a complex
environment.
A recent US
report cited that bugs and glitches cost the US economy about US$59 billion a
year, and indicates that improving software development processes and testing
could save about US$22 billion (37%). Exporters can protect themselves against
possible litigation by those who may wish to hold software vendors liable for
buggy software.
At our next
event, Peter will explain why it's important and cheaper to get the job right
first time. He says, "Testing is comparing the ambiguous to the
invisible, so as to avoid the unthinkable happening to the unknown." Suits - Understanding Intellectual Property - joint CSi/NZSA
